Our residential camp is held at Hickstead Show ground normally around the 2nd week of August during the school holidays. The age range is 12 to 25 years.
What can they expect ?
Children soon find their feet and settle into the routine of yard duties, stable management and the full-range of riding disciplines punctuated by delicious meals prepared by Carol and her team (especially appreciated is the cooked breakfast!). We have a buddy system for all new members, this means they are paired up with either an older member or a member who has been to camp before to help show them the way. It has been very successful as the campers know who to ask if the need help.
Requirements for attending camp
Members need to have attended 3 rallies since the last camp or since becoming a member (camp counts as one, as long as you are still riding the same pony) and also need to attend one of the pre-residential camp rallies in the months prior to the camp. This will allow the riders to be put into the right groups at camp and get to know some of the instructors.
Requirements if rider has a new pony
If a rider has not attended 3 rallies on a new pony, they will be required to attend 3 pre-residential rallies so they can be seen riding and grouped accordingly.
